Final Taskforce meeting held
Over the past two years, the NSW Nation Building and Jobs Plan Taskforce has met monthly to coordinate the delivery of the program in NSW. The NSW Infrastructure Coordinator General and Taskforce Chairman, Robert Leece AM RFD, gave special thanks to the members of the Taskforce at its final meeting held on March 7. Read more
Current delivery status
NSW has reached every target set by the Australian Government early in 2009 ensuring that the majority of the $5bn building program for social housing and government schools has been completed. Read more

BER apprentice legacy
One of the greatest outcomes of the Building the Education Revolution (BER) program was the employment of apprentices. During a time in which many nations around the world were experiencing growing unemployment, the BER program was responsible for giving many apprentices their first on-site job.  Read more
22,400 new jobs in NSW
The NSW unemployment rate has fallen to 4.8 per cent, the second lowest of all the states and below the national average of 5 per cent. Read more
DET post completion survey
As the Building the Education Revolution (BER) program is close to completion a post completion strategy has been developed to determine how effective the program has been in delivering its objectives. This strategy, which includes a survey, will also assist the NSW Department of Education and Training (DET) in delivering future major capital works by learning from the delivery of such a large program. Read more
Transition of NBJP Act Authorisations to the Planning Act
A new provision has been inserted into the EPA Act to provide an ongoing planning approval framework for projects Authorised or exempted under the Nation Building and Jobs Plan (NBJP) (State Infrastructure Delivery) Amendment (Planning Legislation) Act. The NBJP Act Regulation 2011, on 3 March 2011, inserted a new Part 25 (clauses 137 – 141) into Schedule 6 of the EPA Act. This is a normal process for projects and programs, which have had special planning provisions and will end at some point. Read more

Glen Innes based building company BJS Constructions is a regionally based company benefitting from the Building the Education Revolution program rollout since winning their first tenders for building works at Deepwater and Jennings Public schools in October 2009. Read more
Southern Cross welcomes new residents to Bomaderry through NBESP
2011 is shaping up to be a good year for Bomaderry resident John Whitmore.After relying on the St Vincent De Paul Society’s John Purcell House for accommodation, John’s life drastically changed last month when he was offered a brand new unit at a Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan property in Ritchie St Bomaderry. Read more
