NSW rejects many BERIT findings
The NSW Infrastructure Coordinator General (ICG), Mr Bob Leece AM RFD, has rejected many of the findings of the Building the Education Revolution Implementation Taskforce (BERIT) Report released this week. Read more
Seven straight quarters of economic growth for NSW
The ABS State Final Demand data indicates that the NSW economy grew by 1.4 per cent in the September quarter and 4.9 per cent since September 2009. This means that NSW has recorded seven straight quarters of economic growth and remains the engine room of the national economy. Read more
20,238 new jobs in NSW
The latest jobs data shows the NSW unemployment rate has fallen to 5.1 percent – below the national average. Since its peak in March last year, NSW’s unemployment rate has fallen by 1.7 per cent, compared to a 0.5 per cent fall nationally. More than 177,000 jobs have been created in NSW in that time. Read more

Major award for Rockdale Public School construction site
Building the Education Revolution work being carried out at Rockdale Public School has been recognised by the NSW Master Builders Association (MBA). Read more
New affordable housing block for Green Square
Premier Kristina Keneally and Minister for Housing, Frank Terenzini, this week opened a new $20 million affordable housing development in O’Dea Street, Zetland. The 57-unit development has been delivered by City West Housing in the Green Square precinct, providing new housing for people on low to moderate incomes.

Subcontractor triples its apprentice intake thanks to BER program
The Building the Education Revolution program has enabled electrical subcontractor, Modcol Pty Ltd, to not only maintain its existing apprentice employment strategy through the Global Financial Crisis, but to increase its scope to take on three times their yearly apprentice intake. Read more
Tenants welcome Peter Garrett and Michael Daley to their new homes
Common Equity NSW tenants welcomed local Federal Member for Kingsford Smith, Peter Garrett AM, and NSW Member for Maroubra, Michael Daley, to their new homes in Matraville on 1 December 2010. Read more
Woodstock Public School receives new facilities
Woodstock Public School celebrated the completion of the new $250,000 library at a recognition ceremony, December 11, 2010. Principal of Woodstock Public School Vanessa Williams said the funds had made a huge difference to the school grounds. Read more
